As you read this article, you’ll learn about how SculpSure works and whether the effects are permanent:
- The treatment uses lasers to destroy fat cells by raising their temperature
- The treatment is targeted and therefore affects only a certain area of the body
- Fat cells destroyed by the treatment are permanently gone
Working out and eating healthy are both great ways to achieve your ideal physique. However, even if you exercise every day and follow a strict diet, you may have stubborn pockets of fat that don’t respond to anything. Fortunately, you don’t have to live with a belly after all your hard work.
SculpSure is a body sculpting treatment that can get rid of stubborn fat. It’s non-invasive and available at our med spa in Shreveport, LA.
One thing to note is that the SculpSure treatment for body fat is exactly what it sounds like – it gets rid of fat. It is not, however, a weight loss solution. Weight loss procedures help you lose weight and keep it off. SculpSure’s effects are strictly limited to eliminating fat cells.
How Does SculpSure Work?
Since SculpSure is non-invasive, you don’t have to worry about going under the knife. There’s no cutting or even anesthesia. You’re awake through the whole procedure and can read a book or use your phone for the 25-minute treatment. At our Shreveport, LA, clinic, we have a reclining seat where you can sit or lay comfortably for the duration.
During the procedure, you’ll feel cycles of heat and cooling. The cooling keeps you comfortable, though you may also feel tingling sensations as the equipment does its work. There generally aren’t any SculpSure side effects, which is why so many people choose it for fat reduction.
Lasers are common for cosmetic procedures because they can penetrate the skin without affecting it. With SculpSure, the lasers only affect the fat cells beneath your skin. They can be used in a variety of areas:
- Inner and outer thighs
- Love handles
- Under the chin
Destroys Fat Cells
You may hear the phrase “melting fat away” in connection to the SculpSure treatment, but that’s not entirely accurate. While the lasers generate heat as part of the process, you don’t have to worry about melting like a candle.
What actually happens is that the laser raises the cells’ temperature just enough to kill them without harming the surrounding tissue. Once the cells are dead, the body can no longer use them to store fat.
Targets Specific Areas
The lasers only affect the places they’re applied to, so the changes you see will be in a limited area. The ability to target problem areas is one of SculpSure’s strengths, but it’s also why this treatment isn’t a weight loss solution.
Doesn’t Require Surgery
There’s no cutting or going under with SculpSure, which means minimal recovery and a low risk of complications. However, you may be wondering what happens to the dead cells. Liposuction literally sucks them away – so what happens when there’s no external removal process?
It turns out your body has its own natural disposal system. All dead cells – not just those affected by SculpSure – are flushed from the body by the lymphatic system. This process takes about six weeks.
Are the Results Permanent?
SculpSure is an FDA-cleared, permanent fat reduction treatment. Any fat cells destroyed during the treatment are gone for good. The permanent nature of this procedure is one of its most attractive qualities.
Will Fat Return After Treatment?
The fat cells destroyed by SculpSure will not return, even if you gain weight. That’s right – you can still gain weight, even after undergoing treatment.
How is this possible? While SculpSure permanently destroys fat cells in the targeted area, it doesn’t eliminate your body’s ability to store fat – you’re just no longer likely to store fat in that particular area.
Your Body Can Make New Fat Cells
When your body has excess energy, it stores it in the form of fat. If you don’t have enough fat cells to hold the excess energy, your body will not make new ones; it simply stores in the cells that are present.
Sculpsure does not replace a healthy lifestyle. The increased weight is from the fat storage in the fat cells; they remain in the treatment area or other areas of the body not treated.
Fat Cells in Non-Treated Areas Are Still Functional
Anywhere not treated by SculpSure still has all its fat cells, so if you gain weight, you may carry it in these areas. This is actually the most common scenario when patients gain weight after treatment. Depending on the area, you may treat it with another session since repeated procedures don’t increase the risk of SculpSure side effects.
How Often Do You Need Additional Treatment?
Since there are few SculpSure side effects, you can safely have multiple treatments to “touch up” areas where you’re naturally inclined to accumulate fat. In fact, you may need several treatments to get the results you want, as SculpSure only destroys 20% to 25% of fat cells each time. You can schedule an additional treatment as soon as six weeks after your first session.
What Can You Do to Ensure Your Results Last?
The good news is, you’re not guaranteed to regain fat in the treated areas. In fact, with the right approach, you can keep your new physique indefinitely. As with all body fat treatments, you need to monitor your caloric intake and ensure that you’re living a healthy lifestyle to maintain the results.
Regular exercise is essential for a healthy life. For one thing, it keeps your cardiovascular system in top shape, which is especially important as you get older. For another, it prompts your body to use glucose more efficiently, preventing issues such as type 2 diabetes. It can also help you lose weight and keep it off, which is the major concern for SculpSure recipients.
Choose Healthy Foods
As you consider food options, try to choose ones that provide nutritional value with fewer calories. While it’s fine to treat yourself occasionally, a consistent, healthy diet provides your body with the energy and building blocks it needs without the excess fat that gets stored in love handles.
Who is the Ideal Candidate?
The ideal candidate for SculpSure is someone who already has a healthy weight but is looking to reduce fat in problem areas. Candidates should continue to follow their routine after their sessions — since there aren’t any SculpSure side effects that require prolonged recovery time, they should be able to exercise almost immediately.
